The new Thomson-East Coast Line stations are: Stevens, Napier, Orchard Boulevard, Orchard, Great World, Havelock, Outram Park, Maxwell, Shenton Way, Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay.
11 Thomson-East Coast Line stations to open on Nov 13 2022 : Details of some stations
Four of these are interchange stations. And collectively, they connect TEL commuters to all the existing MRT lines.
Stevens station will connect to Downtown Line while Orchard station will provide a connection to North-South Line. Outram Park and Marina Bay stations are both three-line interchanges, with Outram Park connecting to the East-West Line and North-East Line, and Marina Bay connecting to the North-South Line and Circle Line.
Located along Bukit Timah Road, Stevens Station will improve connectivity for the neighbouring residential and educational institutions, such as the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. Stevens Road connects to Downtown Line especially Tan Kah Kee MRT which is close to the upcoming Watten Estate Condo. Downtown Line also links to the future developments at Jalan Anak Bukit sich as the Reserve Residences.
Napier Station, which is located at the intersection of Cluny and Napier Road, is surrounded by landmarks such as the Singapore Botanic Garden, Gleneagles Hospital and the Australian High Commission.
Adjacent to Camden Medical Centre, the Orchard Boulevard Station will bring further convenience and connectivity to commuters heading to the nearby malls and commercial developments.
Orchard Station is an interchange station, connecting commuters on TEL to NSL. It is located within the city’s main shopping belt and will improve connectivity for commuters travelling to and from the heartlands and the shopping district.
Great World Station is bordered by residential developments along the nearby River Valley Road and Kim Seng Road areas. The station will bring rail connectivity to the previously unlinked area, which includes schools and commercial developments such as Great World City. A good example is Rivière condo which is a 455-unit luxury residential development located next to Singapore River.
Havelock Station is built underneath the natural green hilly site and is surrounded by the mature neighbourhood of Havelock Road. The station’s location was chosen to serve future redevelopment for the surrounding vicinity.
Outram Park Station is one of the three-line interchanges of TEL. It joins the existing interchange station, linking up TEL to the EWL and NEL. The station also features dedicated signage that points commuters to the exits leading to the Singapore General Hospital.
Maxwell Station, along South Bridge Road and Neil Road is situated directly beside the Maxwell Food Centre and across from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
Shenton Way Station is located in the heart of the Central Business District and will enable commuters to travel directly into the downtown area.
Marina Bay Station is a three-line interchange station connecting the TEL to the NSL and CCL.
Gardens by the Bay Station will serve commuters who wish to visit the Gardens by the Bay and Marina Barrage areas, which were previously unlinked by rail connectivity.
