As Singapore’s real estate sector evolves to meet the demands of an increasingly complex market, the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS) and the National University of Singapore have joined forces to create a holistic pathway for the next generation of property professionals. REDAS President Tan Swee Yiow announced the Real Estate Talent Programme at the REDAS Spring Festival Lunch in 2026, marking a strategic alliance between the association’s approximately 300 members and the country’s leading academic institution.

The programme builds on NUS’s established Master of Science in Real Estate programme, which has operated for over thirty years, by adding practical dimensions through traineeships, internships, and mentorships. This structure provides progressive exposure from introductory experiences to advanced responsibilities, connecting students with seasoned industry professionals who offer career guidance and professional development support alongside hands-on work experience.

The programme enhances NUS’s three-decade Master of Science in Real Estate with traineeships, internships, and mentorships for progressive professional development.

Over 50 internship opportunities have been committed by participating organizations, spanning multiple functional areas within the real estate sector. Students can pursue roles in asset management, commercial leasing, and project development, gaining insight into everything from transaction management to the complete development lifecycle. The positions reflect the sector’s modernization, with fintech roles demonstrating how technology is reshaping real estate operations and finance, while traditional commercial and public sector placements provide exposure to diverse property management practices.

Training opportunities extend across both public and private sector organizations, enabling students to understand real estate sector realities before formal employment begins. This early exposure develops a sector-wide perspective through authentic work assignments that apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, while professional networks begin forming during these formative periods. Participants will gain comprehensive understanding of financing options and regulatory frameworks that govern Singapore’s property market, essential knowledge for navigating complex transactions. Around 40 organisations have expressed interest in participating, including public agencies, developers, financial institutions, trade associations, and consultants. Named participants include Building and Construction Authority, City Developments Limited, DBS, Frasers Property, GuocoLand, and Keppel.

The initiative directly addresses workforce development challenges facing the industry, demonstrating participant commitment to attracting emerging talent through competitive compensation and meaningful experiences. By drawing from NUS’s established academic programs and student body, the programme creates a sustainable talent pipeline that benefits both students seeking clarity on career pathways and organizations requiring skilled professionals who understand the sector’s complexities and opportunities.
